Learning English And Looking For God
what is up?! I hope you all had a great week!
Mine was pretty uneventful... we took a trip to Warsaw this week which you know is a goof 15 hour round trip for a one hour apt... so that was great. It was fun though to be back in my first apartment. I love warsaw. A special piece of my heart is there after spending six transfers there. Truly the best six transfers.
It was fun to show Sister Pleszczynska around!
It was also fun to see sister tanner and sister crook.Being stranded in a city by ourselves is definitely a unique experience so it's really fun when we get the opportunity to spend time with other missionaries.
The rest of our week was spent trying to find people to teach! We spent a lot of time outside. Which has been really interesting here in Legnica. They all seem to know who we are here... which has NEVER happened to me before in my mission. These people look at us and quite literally run.... except for the construction workers... we run from them hahaha.
We met this really nice girl from turkey and she brought her friends to Polish class. They are so nice and we are going over to their dorm this week to share a spiritual thought and make turkish food.
We were able to spend some valuable time with members and our friend Olek!
Other than that... highlight of this week...
One of our friends started to ghost us after a good lesson about how we pray... she sent us a text after a few days of ghosting us apologising but then saying she never wishes to hear from us because she is afraid of us.... She said because we do not pray to marry, say the Lords prayer, and we do not cross ourselves, so we must be evil.....
Sooooo ... yeah. Sister Pleszczynska and I were dying laughing to be honest. I love Poland.
Sister Pleszczynska is also learning English rn and she has been learning from a book called "heart of the matter" by president Nelson..... no I'm not sure if you have ever heard someone learn English from president Nelson... but let me tell you... it is NEVER boring. She carries around this book with phrases that she has learned such as.... "it seems to be harmless flirting" and "we are compatible to achieve positive outcomes". It is really quite entertaining. I'm always on my toes with the questions she asks. Let me tell you... explaining harmless flirting in Polish was a really fun adventure
That is pretty much all that happened this week! I'm looking forward to this week and seeing what it has in store.
This week we had a really interesting conversation with one of our friends. It was a good reminder to me of the nature of God and His love for us. He asked us if we had children could we imagine sending one to suffer and die. Honestly testifying of this was one of the most powerful moments of my life. I was able to tell him no I could not comprehend it... that would take a power and a love that is beyond our comprehension. A love that truly only God could comprehend.
We all know John 3:16... for God so loved the world He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
But I love the scriptures that follows this one...
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Gods purpose and His plan is to bring us home. This reflection truly made me look at the atonement of jesus christ through the Lens of the Father. If God is willing to send his child to suffer and die so that we might return to Him. What is He not willing to do?
I hope you all have a great week!
Thank you for all of your emails. It always makes me smile SO much!
