Week 26
Hello everyone
I can't believe it's been six months!
Wow.
This week has been very fun but also very sobering.
We got to lead exchanges in Bydgoszcz and then bring in some sisters to Warsaw. We have another two exchanges this week so It will be another very busy week.
We also had the baptism of the tio family on Saturday. I am so excited for them. It's been a massive blessing to be able to teach them.
It's funny how there can be themes to weeks.... this week the theme was busy, fun, and then the reality of the war was brought to light. It's funny living in a world where we get literally no news. The only thing we get is what we hear from home.... which is most of the time nothing. This week we had dinner with two of our Ukrainian families and then went to visit a soldier who has been fighting there the last two years. My heart is torn apart for these families and this soldier... I just. It is devastating. I have no words and I wish I could say more about these experiences but they are heartbreaking. Maybe next week.
One joke that I can share is from Niels (the soldier) he has sustained many injuries and due to his most recent time being blown up, he has been left paralyzed from the waist down and is in need of a double shoulder replacement... after asking to be my husband I could not stop laughing (out of awkwardness) he then said "wow I could have been a stand up comedian." Then one of our elders (who is very familiar with him and has the go ahead to make horrible jokes) says "no need, you're a great sit down one"... looking back on it is mostly just sad, but it's how Neil's makes himself smile. He is a great guy.
I feel like I keep saying this... but my spiritual thought is just to be grateful. It is just so important to be grateful for everything. Every breath we take is a gift.
I love you all,
Siostra Kamila
(yeah... it's official. Every new person this week renamed me that)
